003.0100         GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF ADMINISTRATION

1.0  LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.1     The organization chart shows lines of primary responsibility. As such, it is designed to be called upon when needed to clarify relationships in case some question arises. Missing are the dozens of criss-crossing lines of secondary responsibility and of communication and cooperation which characterize our schools and are in some ways more important to us all than the lines of primary responsibility shown on the chart.

2.0  INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM

2.1      Students will be primarily responsible to classroom teachers. The instructional and non-instructional services which are provided by special personnel in each school will be brought into the educational program and into the life of each child in a manner determined by the classroom teachers and the principal of each school in consultation with special personnel.

2.2     All classroom teachers, all special instructional personnel and all special non-instructional personnel in each school will be primarily responsible to the principal of that school. Special personnel who work in more than one school will be responsible to the principal of the school in which they are working at a particular time. Appropriate central office personnel will be available to discuss any problems which may arise with persons who work in more than one school.

2.3     Principals will consult with the district staff for instructional and non-instructional services. However, the principals will work closely with the superintendent in administering personnel policies.
