POLICY 003.0150 APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF SUPERINTENDENT AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR (REPLACED POLICIES 005.0400, 005.0410 AND 005.0420 ON 10/27/98)

 

 

1.0              APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF SUPERINTENDENT

1.1              The School Board shall appoint a District Superintendent of Schools who serves as the Boardís Chief Executive Officer. (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.2              An evaluation of the Superintendent will be conducted each year and presented to the Board before May 1st.. If the Board determines to extend the appointment of the Superintendent, the Board is to offer a new contract of up to two years which is to be entered into no later than June of each year.

1.2.1        In the event the Superintendent enters into the final year of his or her contract, he or she will be given no less than three monthsí notice that the Board does not intend to renew the contract.

1.3              The Superintendentís term of office begins July 1 and is for two years, unless otherwise specified in the Superintendentís contract, or until a successor is appointed and qualified.The Superintendent qualifies for office by taking the constitutional oath of office. (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.4              Nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit the Board from earlier renewing the Superintendentís contract for a term not to exceed two years. (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.5              The Superintendent shall comply with the laws of the State of Utah, the regulations of the State Board of Education, and Uintah School District Policies.

2.0              BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

2.1              The Board shall appoint a Business Administrator whose term of office is for two years and until a successor is appointed and qualified. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.2              An evaluation of the Business Administrator will be conducted each year and presented to the Board before May 1st. If the Board determines to extend the appointment of the Business Administrator, the Board is to offer a new contract of up to two years which is to be entered into no later than June of each year.

2.2.1        In the event the Business Administrator enters into the final year of his or her contract, he or she will be given no less than three monthsí notice that the Board does not intend to renew the contract.

2.3              The Business Administratorís term of office begins July 1 and is for two years, unless otherwise specified in the Business Administratorís contract, or until a successor is appointed and qualified. The Business Administrator qualifies for office by taking the constitutional oath of office and posting any required bond or undertaking. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.4              Nothing herein shall be construed to prevent the Board from earlier renewing the Business Administratorís contract for a term of up to two years. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.5              The Business Administrator shall comply with the laws of the state of Utah, the regulations of the State Board of Education, and Uintah School District Policies.
