005.0060         EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS:

                        CREDENTIALS AND RECORDS

 

1.0  PERSONNEL CREDENTIALS GENERAL

1.1  Personnel shall possess valid credentials (i.e., Utah Educator License, appropriate endorsements, etc.), or must be deemed eligible to participate in a state-approved program to obtain valid credentials, before offers of employment are extended, duties are assigned, or payment is made from any source of funds.  Personnel must maintain such credentials or such eligibility while employed.

 

2.0  TEACHER SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT

2.1  If the District assigns a teacher to a subject area for which that teacher is not properly licensed or endorsed, the District must request a Letter of Authorization from the State Board to continue the teacher's assignment.

 

3.0  LETTER OF AUTHORIZATION

3.1  The person the District intends to employ or reassign under a Letter of Authorization must demonstrate continual progress in meeting all requirements stipulated by the Utah Office of Education, within the time frame allowed.

 

4.0  DISTRICT

4.1  It is the responsibility of the District to make application for the Letter of Authorization within eight weeks of employing the individual. If the application is not approved, the person employed may not continue service. Utah Admin. R. 300-512-4(C)
