005.0340  Consensual Relationships

 

New Policy

 

1.0       GENERAL STATEMENT

The purpose of the policy is to define prohibited consensual relationships between supervisors and employees they directly supervise and/or for whom they have evaluative responsibility, and to state the actions which should be taken to resolve such situations.

 

2.0       DEFINITIONS

 

2.1 Consensual relationship: A romantic or sexual relationship.

 

3.0       It is the policy of Uintah School District to prohibit consensual relationships between supervisors and employees whom they directly supervise or for whom they have evaluative responsibility.

 

4.0       A supervisor involved in a consensual relationship with an employee he/she directly supervises or for whom he/she has evaluative authority must immediately report the relationship to his/her supervisor or to the director of human resources.

 

4.1       Unless the situation is remedied by reassigning supervision responsibilities and performance evaluation responsibilities to other qualified individuals, continuation of the supervisor-employee consensual relationship is considered a violation of this policy and cause for disciplinary action.

 

5.0       Employees who engage in such consensual relationships and who do not take steps to resolve       the conflict of interest will be subject to disciplinary action.
