005.0685 FAMILY LEAVE POLICY

 

Replaces Policy 005.0685 Family Leave Policy last approved on 2/11/97

 

1.0       GENERAL STATEMENT

1.1       This policy has been adopted by the Uintah School District Board of Education in compliance with The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, as amended, Public Law 103-3 Enacted February 5, 1993. As Amended by Section 585 of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008, Public Law [110-181] Enacted January 28, 2008. As Amended by Section 565 of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2010, Public Law [111-84] Enacted October 28, 2009. As Amended by the Airline Flight Crew Technical Corrections Act, Public Law [111-119] Enacted December 21, 2009.* The FMLA Act can be accessed on the United States Department of Labor website, www.dol.gov. This policy provides for appropriate family and medical leave for qualified employees.

 

*Uintah School District will adhere to FMLA statutory amendments listed here, as well as such amendments adopted into law into the future.

 

2.0      TWELVE MONTH PERIOD

2.1       Uintah School District calculates the twelve (12) month period in which leave may be taken on a “rolling” basis, meaning that the twelve (12) month period is measured backward from the date an employee uses any FMLA leave. A definition/explanation of the “rolling” year may be accessed on the U.S. Department of Labor website, www.dol.gov.
