It is necessary for schools to open at prescribed times and to operate on a schedule that will facilitate instructional activities. It is the expectation of the Board that teachers and principals work eight hours per normal work day, be in the school building early enough and stay late enough to accomplish his/her organizing and programming, and to give guidance, counseling and professional help to students who may need assistance. The role of the teacher is professional in nature, and therefore, teachers should see that their duties are properly performed and that good public relations are established and maintained. As a general rule, the Superintendent of schools is authorized to alter the normal work schedule where circumstances dictate.
