 1.0              Extended Year Employment

1.1              The Uintah School District may from time to time offer an extended year program.

1.2              Teachers may make application through the district office for employment in the extended year program.  No teacher will be required as part of his/her regular employment with Uintah School District to accept said employment.

1.3              Teachers employed in said programs are temporary employees and subject to Policy 005.0540 Temporary Employees.

1.4              Teachers employed in said program shall be paid as follows:

1.4.1        Salary compensation for courses offering high school credit and remedial courses: hourly compensation for time actually spent and authorized in teaching the course.  Preparation compensation will be provided on the same basis (ratio) as is provided in the teacherís regular assignment during the regular school year.  (Example: a teacher receives one prep period for every four teaching periods at Uintah High School, i.e., a 70 minute prep period for four 70 minute teaching periods or 25% teaching assignment.  Thus, for every 70-minute teaching period during extended year at Uintah High School, the teacher will receive 17.5 minutes of prep time.)

1.4.2        The hourly rate shall be the teacherís previous year base salary divided by the number of days under contract divided by eight hours per day.  (Example: teachers teaching two 70 periods (70 x 2) during extended year; the teacher is entitled to 35 minutes of prep time (17.5 x 2). Compensation would be hourly rate x (140 minutes + 35 minutes prep time) equals daily earning, to the nearest quarter hour.

1.4.3        For enrichment, i.e., courses which are not remedial or taken for high school credit: $15 per instructional hour.

1.5              The person employed to serve as coordinator of extended year program shall be paid an amount to be determined that shall include all activities and responsibilities related to planning, implementing and evaluating the program.

1.6              No additional insurance or other benefits shall be provided for said employment.

2.0              Curriculum Committee Compensation

2.1              Certificated personnel appointed by the Superintendent to serve as members of curriculum committees shall receive compensation in addition to their regular salary in the amount of $10.00 per hour spent in committee meetings that are not held during the regular workday.

2.2              There shall be no additional compensation for time spent in committee work during the regular school day as defined in Policy 005.1100.
