1.0              The following statements are applicable to the procedure for processing inquiries and complaints about instructional materials, including textbooks:

1.1              Inquiries or complaints shall be directed to the building level. (Teacher level or administration level).

1.2              Each school will establish a material selection committee. The committee is to be composed of the principal (chairman), the media director, team leaders or department chairpersons, and two or three parents (one to be the P.T.A. President). This committee will be responsible to evaluate, print and non-print material that is deemed by parents to have a negative influence on students. The committee will meet and decide whether or not to keep the material in circulation.

1.3              All instructional materials shall remain in the curriculum until the above procedure has been fully complied with.

1.4              If inquires or complaints, directed to the appropriate building level, are not met to the satisfaction of the individual, the district grievance procedure should then be followed.
